Covid 19 2021

New & Improved Safety Guidelines

We raised our already demanding standards to an even higher level with new protocols and procedures. We developed our New Safety Guidelines for implementing enhanced health and safety measures for our guests and staff based on mandates and recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

All guests should expect longer-than-normal wait times to pass through our security checkpoint, purchase tickets, process season passes, enter the park, check in to cabanas, receive food and beverage service, and experience attractions. We continue to make changes to improve all of these processes and thank you for your patience.

We promote social distancing practices through audio announcements, ground markers, signs, and the spacing of turnstiles, cashier stations, and restroom utilities. We continue to enhance these efforts to assist our guests with this important practice. Please remember that social distancing is a shared responsibility between our guests and the park. We provide guidance, but we count on our guests to follow this guidance in order to maintain the safest conditions for all guests and staff members.

Implement Daily Wellness Checks:  Team members and guests undergo a screening upon arrival each day. Team members also receive a temperature check and are sent home if their temperature exceeds 100.4 °F. The screening questions include:

Have you personally experienced any of the following signs or symptoms within the last 72 hours?

  • A temperature at or greater than 100.4° Fahrenheit (38° Celsius)
  • Coughing
  • Shortness of breath of difficulty breathing
  • Chills
  • Repeated shaking with chills
  • Muscle pain
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • New loss of taste or smell

Have you had close contact with any person known to have COVID-19 or that has demonstrated any of the signs or symptoms within the last 72 hours?

Have you traveled on any cruise ship, including river cruises, or performed any international travel within the last 14 days?

Answering yes to any of these questions may prevent you from entering the park.  The CDC and local health departments advise that older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions might be at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. There is an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 while in any public place where people are present. By visiting Island H2O Water Park, you are voluntarily assuming all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.

Face Masks:  Face Coverings are optional for fully vaccinated team members & guests. Due to safety constraints, face coverings are not permitted while in the water or on slides.

Practice Social Distancing:  Guests are guided by signs and announcements to stay at least six feet from others and limit interactions with those who are not in their party. Visual cues are provided with ground markers to assist guests with social distancing practices while in line at the park entrance, attractions, restrooms, food service locations, and more. Deck layouts are modified to ensure distancing in all lounging and dining areas. Acrylic barriers are in place at our foodservice and merchandise locations to limit exposure.

Please Note: Social Distancing is a shared responsibility between our guests and the park. We provide guidance, but we also count on our guests to follow this guidance in order to maintain the safest conditions for all guests and staff members.

Promote Hand Hygiene & Respiratory Etiquette: Additional hand sanitizing stations are placed throughout the park, and signs are displayed to encourage all employees and guests to wash their hands often and cover their coughs and sneezes.

Clean, Disinfect, and Sanitize on a Continuous Basis:  The CDC states, “disinfection with chlorine…should inactivate the virus in the water.” The water in all attractions at Island H2O Water Park is double treated with chlorination and ultraviolet light to maintain the healthiest water conditions. All water that circulates through the water park is exposed to UV light in the filtration process. UV light works by disrupting the DNA or RNA of specific organisms, such as viruses, which in turn, kills or inactivates the virus completely. Team members are assigned additional duties that support cleanliness throughout the park, including disinfection of handrails, loungers, tabletops, tubes, mats, door handles, and other surfaces.

Encourage Electronic Payments:  Guests are encouraged to purchase admission tickets online prior to arriving at the park to minimize interactions during the park entry experience. Guests are encouraged to use cards or contactless payments instead of using cash while visiting.

Manage Use of Indoor Areas & Communal Spaces:  Homeland Security’s biodefense research laboratory states, “sunlight seems to be very detrimental to the virus,” and “within minutes, the majority of the virus is inactivated on surfaces and in the air in direct sunlight.” Our guests spend their entire day outdoors in the sunshine or in shaded areas, except for the restroom buildings and other minor service areas which are disinfected regularly throughout the day. Employee break areas are expanded for social distancing and the use of communal areas is staggered.

Provide a COVID-19 Response Team:  A team of supervisors and managers is available to respond to COVID-19 concerns from guests or employees. The response team acts on reported COVID-19 exposure events and notifies local health authorities, staff, and guests as required. They train staff on all safety protocols and ensure that the team is socially distanced during meetings and training. They manage the isolation of those who are sick and their transportation to home or a healthcare provider.

I cannot thank you enough for your continued support and understanding. I look forward to seeing you at the park!

Sincerely,

Jim Kunau
